“When someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you don’t stoop to their level. Our motto is, when they go low, we go high.”

This was the motto that moved everyone, when Michelle Obama delivered a heartfelt speech on the opening day of the Democratic National Convention, in Philadelphia on July 25th. She described the transformation of her daughters from bubbly little girls to poised young women, as she looked back at her husband’s character and conviction along with his decency and grace. “I saw their little faces pressed up against the window, and the only thing I could think was, what have we done?”

The present First Lady pointed how she believed that the time at White House would become the foundation of what her daughters would become; the experience that was about to follow, could make or break them. In the same process, she also stirred the audience by showing her immense support for Hillary Clinton, who never buckles under pressure.

Talking of the elections, Mrs. Obama envisions a President who understands that the issues are not black and white, and cannot be boiled down to 140 characters. That’s where we witness the sheer magnitude of her support for Clinton, who knows her job and believes that “we don’t chase fame and fortune for ourselves, we fight to give everyone a chance to succeed”. She also wishes to see a leader who will be guided everyday by the love and hope, and impossibly big dreams that they all have for their children. She undoubtedly votes for Hillary Clinton, as the perfect candidate for the esteemed position.

Mrs. Obama closed her speech by warning members not to “sit back and hope that everything works out for the best” in the November election. Hence, the first lady’s powerful speech drew applauses and a standing ovation from the packed crowd who went back with the message that, United States of America is the ‘greatest country on earth right now!’
