She touched my shoulder and
whispered in my ear,
“I am scared”
That is all she could say crying and stammering

She showed me a picture of the girl she loved
Oh! Young love
her lover’s reflection in her eyes
Prettier than the picture in my hand

Unique,is the term i gave to her,
her lips curled into a faint smile

Lucky are those who are genetically wired under the social norms
Accepted by people with open arms

There she was fragile, scared and vulnerable
As according to her mother,
What she was into is intolerable.

Numerous efforts they made to ‘turn her straight’
But her  dna didn’t intertwine this fate

She told me it was not in her control
That it was not a ‘HE’ but a ‘SHE’ that made her whole

She also told me how her heart skipped a beat at her sight
and that her stomach was in knots when she touched her
I was just smiling at her delight

I wiped her tears and held her hand
I told her ‘to be a man’
To spread her chest with pride
I assured her that she is ‘normal’
The society just forgot how to swim  with the tide

It has always been a tradition to neglect the unconventional
To think only 2 dimensional

Because it takes courage to stand alone and fight
To love a damsel,
And not a knight.
