The third day of SDMUN 2017 on February 12th, 2017 saw the final session of the three day event in which most of the draft resolutions failed to be passed regarding various baffling issues at the international front.
In the last session of the biggest committee of the SDMUN- the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the delegates discussed the solutions regarding the worldwide gender discrimination and sexual orientation. While, in the Historic Security Council (HSC) a draft resolution was prepared with sponsors India and New Zealand with four countries as the signatories which failed to be passed as South Vietnam and U.S.A bombarded the sponsors with points of information.
The World Health Organization (WHO) in its last session saw the drafting of the resolution on by France, Japan, and seventeen other countries but also failed to pass as it was objected by Indonesia, Norway, Bangladesh, and USA.
In addition, CTOC in its final session ended with a mixture of General Speakers List (GSL) addressing the burning issue of challenges related to drug problems and the committee concluded with a moderated caucus on the same. The International Cooperation for Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COUPOUS) ended with concluding statements through a general speakers list on the benefits of Space Technology Applications which were put forward by the delegate of India and Pakistan.
Post to the mouth-watering lunch, it was the time for the extravaganza to end with some spectacular performances to bestow the conference a perfect ending. The closing ceremony was a mixture of some phenomenal dance performances by the students of the college. It started with showcasing of western dance performances, followed by singing and the traditional Himachali folk dance.
After the cultural performances, came forth the declaration of the best delegates for the various committees. The best delegate for the General Assembly was given to Ishita Chugh who was representing Australia while Ishnoor Singh Bains bagged the best delegate trophy for France in Historic Security Council. For WHO Aastha Chopra representing France was awarded the best delegate trophy and in the CTOC Parth Gupta won the best delegate trophy representing United Kingdom. Lastly the best delegate for UN-COPUOS was awarded to Jashanpreet who was representing USA.
With accomplishment of its motto VOLTE FACE, the 4th edition of the SDMUN ended on a rather cultivated note fulfilling its aim provide the coming generation to provide a broader outlook on what exactly goes around worldwide.
