Panjab University (PU) Chrysanthemum Exhibition started at the Prof. R.C. Paul Rose
Garden, PU Campus today. PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Arun Kumar Grover inaugurated the six days long 8th Chrysanthemum Exhibition, which would conclude on December 20. PU Dean University Instructions (DUI), Prof. A.K. Bhandari presided over the function. PU Registrar Col. G.S. Chadha (Retd.) was the guest of honour. As many as 196 varieties of Chrysanthemum and 2700 potted plants are on display in the exhibition. 16 different flower arrangements are also on display. 25 different flower arrangements were also at display. The visitors appreciated these arrangements and were seen getting their photographs clicked with these arrangements and fountains. On this occasion, PU VC also flagged off 2 new E-Rickshaw Dumper Placers, which have been procured by the Horticulture Division as an economical and eco-friendly mean for disposal of waste displaying the Motto of “Swachh Campus Swachh Bharat”.
PU VC Prof. Arun Kumar Grover appreciated the exhibits displayed at the venue and the
efforts made by the PU Horticulture Division. Such green initiative on part of
University helps us in getting closer to the nature and creating awareness about
environment amongst the masses, he added. Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) apprised those present that the Horticulture Division has been making constant efforts like these for the protection of environment.
The exhibition was attended by Dean Student Welfare Prof Navdeep Goyal, Controller
of Examination Prof Parvinder Singh, Secretary to Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Col. (Retd.) Prabhdeep Singh Sandhu, Dean College Development Council Prof Naval Kishore, Dean Student Welfare, Finance & Development Officer CA Vikram Nayyar, Director Research Prof OP Katare, Director Public Relation Mr Vineet Punia and Executive Engineer Mr R K Rai and PU Divisional Engineer (Horticulture) Mr. Anil Thakur. Fellows and eminent academicians of Panjab University like Sh. I.S. Chadha, Prof. Keshav Malhotra, Dr Dinesh Kumar, and others, Wardens, presidents of teaching and non teaching unions, Manager Press, Architect, were also present at the event. The event was well attended and
appreciated by faculty members, Non teaching employees, students and general public.
