Going a step forward towards their mega-event ‘Umeed’ for Indian Army, ‘I Am Still Human’ took to words and rhythm by organizing a session and a band performance at Innov8 and Elante Mall respectively on February 19th, 2017. The event venue of the latter was sponsored by Elante Carnival.

According to Vivek Mehta (Founder, I Am Still Human), ‘Umeed’ would bring a ray of hope for the families of the martyrs. He believes in practically supporting the families by generating awareness, by letting people know their (army officials) stories and inspire. The team of ‘I Am Still Human’ (IASH) conducted blood donations at various places to reach their goal. While IASH focuses mainly on war widows and supporting their families, there lies a big reason as to why Vivek at such a young age started working for this cause. His accident and sister’s death were quite harsh and he realized that when there are major problems, you find its solutions and make a difference.

It is perhaps the same commitment to make a difference that took the shape of the organization, which now is successfully organizing events for a cause; one of which is the session of February 19th, which saw the words inspired by real experiences of the speakers, Lt Gen Prem Nath Hoon P.V.S.M., V.S.M., S.M. (Retd.), captured Siachen (1987) and Ms Lilly Bawa (w/o late Lt. Col. Inderbal Bawa, M.V.C martyred in the peace-keeping mission between Sri Lanka and India). While the emotions attached with the experiences were self-explanatory, it all happened amidst the feeling of patriotism and willingness to do something.

In this endeavor, Qissa- the band from SD College Chandigarh took the stage and rocked to the beat of music and lightened the mood with their in-between melodies, thus giving a perfect balance to the emotional session of the morning same say.

IASH also expanded and has gotten itself around 200 volunteers among which Sahil Sehgal (BCA-III, SD College), who is also the Vice President of the Online Marketing, had managed to work hard with the success of Project ‘Umeed‘. The evening ended with a blast and smiles on the faces and kept us all captive in the thoughts of army life.
