Colours were entwined and folklore was revisited when the girls of MCM DAV College decked themselves up in hues of ethnicity and celebrated the festival of winter warmth, ‘Dhiya Di Lohri’, in the college premises on January 13th, 2017. The event was organized in collaboration with 94.3 My FM.
In the beginning, the anchors explained the relevance of Lohri and introduced the guests. RJ Golmal Gagan along with Vishal struck a conversation with the audience and entertained them with their wit and fun games like, Lohri Boliyan competition, jumbled Boliyan and many more.
Later on, they distributed prizes like coffee mugs and movie tickets, among the lucky winners. Audience also became party to a musical melange when some girls took to stage and sang a couple of festive boliyan and charmed the milieu. After the games, everyone in attendance, along with the guests and teachers proceeded to the customary bonfire.
Girls arrived in campus expecting pleasantries and were dressed to their best. It was a gratifying celebration, one that marked the starting of the semester. Lohri celebration has always been on the cards for MCM DAV College and this year it was celebrated with cheerful faces as well.
The beat of the drum, tunes of the boliyan and lighting up of the bonfire concluded the spirit of Lohri. All in all, the Lohri event created a memorable time for all present and ingenerated a spirit of tradition and glory. Smiles, selflies and swag sufficed the celebrations. Happiness is the essence of any festivity and the glow was palpable among the crowd throughout the fun bridled event.
