Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Vice Chancellor, Prof Arun Kumar Grover today
inaugurated 3 more wooden courts and multi-shuttle machine at Panjab University
Badminton Hall in PU Campus.
PU Registrar Col. G.S. Chadha (Retd.), Director Sports Dr. Parminder Singh, National
Badminton coach from Chandigarh Badminton Association Surinder Mahajan and large number of badminton player were also present on the occasion.

Badminton players of PU Centre have been doing well in State, National and All India
intervarsity level by winning medals every year since 2000. 4 players represented Indian
University in World University tournaments and 2 players played for country. Recently
P.U. Badminton team won Gold Medal at All India intervarsity tournament.

This is the best gift and award from PU Sports Department to Badminton players of PU
Coaching Centre, the facilities of six wooden courts and Multi-shuttle machine which
will enhance the performance of players, said Surinder Mahajan, Sr. Badminton Coach at
Panjab University.

“Multishuttle” way of training is very popular and specific for the badminton training
session. The multi-shuttle can shoot 160 shuttle in various direction with different
speed and players can work on their accuracy in all strokes i.e. Toss, Drops, Clear,
Drives and Smash etc. and more over the players will improve the defence as the machine
shoots shuttles very fast and on unpredictable directions.

It may be recalled that ace Indian Badminton Player Saina Nehwal with other Indian team
players has also attended camp in this hall and P.V. Sindhu, Shri Kant has also played
at the PU Campus, when they were juniors under the supervision of Mr. Mahajan in 2004.
Now with these international facilities there will be great development in the game told
by Dr. Parminder Singh Director, Sports Panjab University.
