Flight

Of her daily escapades,

One was to venture into alien territories

Little did she know,

That this rampage could endanger her flight.

Adrenaline is what we call it,

But she was six ounces of euphoria

As she approached my window,

The cacophony fell asleep

Fear puffed her wings,

Faster than blood.

And suddenly she collided with another bird,

Odd enough for her, it had three wings

There I saw then,

6 ounces of lifelessness

I consoled her in the vicinity of my hands,

And applied some earth, on her unsalvageable arm

My father proclaiming her incapacitated,

Went to dig her fate

But my eyes connected to her eyes,

Hunger to live.

I took her to the garden, fenced from predators

Predators who were wishing for her to fail, fall

After an hour,

I saw her rising,

From the hedge, to the hut

And finally to the tree

Salivating dogs at the foot of the tree,

Dilated pupils of my mother,

My proud smile

As she took her crippled-

‘flight’
