Diwali has always been one of the most extravagant bonanza and a symbol of iridescence, joy and elation for all. It is one such event which binds together everyone into a beautiful bond of happiness. This festival has been like a lineage for all the families till date. Whereby, every individual forms an integral part of the preparations that start a month ago. In antiquity, every family left no stone un-turned to celebrate it in the most grandeur way. However, in the present spectrum of immense cosmopolitan lifestyle, people are so engrossed in their own busy schedules that they hardly find time to celebrate Diwali. The true essence of this festival is lacking its worth in today’s time. The materialistic approach of the present generation has demeaned the actual value of exchanging gifts, decorating houses with candles and diyas on the occasion.
Earlier, visiting friends and relatives on Diwali was a sort of ritual which has now transformed into formal calls and WhatsApp messages. Also, burning crackers was not just something that kids did, but also the real kid inside every elder loved to do. But, owing to the health issues and environmental problems, both kids and elders preferably try to stay aloof from this too.
Visiting stores for buying new clothes on this occasion used to be the most fascinating part which is now replaced by online shopping portals. Decorating houses with candles and diyas is now nowhere to be found as the Chinese decorative lights are taking their place. A drastic metamorphism has taken place from the past to the present and I believe there is much more formal outlook awaiting in the future towards this festival of fun, happiness and unity.
Nevertheless, it is the responsibility of the potent section i.e the youth to keep the spirits high of this festival and carry forward the legacy of celebrating Diwali in the most graceful and lavish way with our friends and family.
