The most awaited theatre fest of November, Rangrezz witnessed the most profound teams of theatre from all over the country at Chitkara University, Rajpura. Rangrezz- The National Theatre Festival took place on November 11th and November 12th, 2016.
More than 20 teams were a part of the two competitions of the event ‘Street Theatre’ and ‘Proscenium Theatre- Stage Theatre’. And it was truly an epitome of theatre. D.A.V College, Chandigarh proved its mettle in the street play competition by winning the first prize, followed by Ashoka University that bagged the second place. The winners of both the competitions were awarded with a cash price of Rs. 2 lakhs (1st prize) and Rs. 1 lakhs (2nd prize) respectively. The event was graced by the Honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Pawan Malhotra.
Further, India’s largest film festival concluded on a high note as the crowd was seen going gaga over the live performance of ‘DJ Candice’. ‘The Local Train’ clubbed with ‘The Coke Studio’ was something that was never seen before.
In a nutshell, the festival at Chitkara held true to its adage, ‘Rangrezz, where we live and breathe theatre.’
